Dynastar Contact 8 AIS Clip the skier in and let the skis go, the Contact 8 has an even more radical shape that carves on any piste with the merest of skier inputs, they are automatic pilots that will allow you to roll your feet from side-to-side, soak up the vista, worry about what to eat for lunch and develop your skiing through the use of technology rather than just slogging away practicing for another five years. True developers of skiers rather than of skiing, if you can already carve but if you need a pair of skis to take you places and give you new sensations then give the Contact 8's a go. |

Dynastar Exclusive 8 The beginner to intermediate ski with a lovely forgiving flex and a fun carvability that is a surprise to all advanced skiers who have tested these skis. The men's ski has the same traits and is a joy to use, they are not great at speed but their nimbleness and versatility at low speed and in all types of turn is a great. Highly recommended for early intermediates. |
Rossignol Saphir 3 The Saphir ladies range is about giving you skis that are fun yet progressive and will get you skiing technically well. The shapes are carvey, so you'll get lots of grip in all types of turn and the wood and carbon construction is a good mix to provide stability and nimbleness. Stick to these for fast development and fun skiing. |
Gold - Suitable for advanced intermediate through to expert. Anyone who is confident on red runs and above will benefit from skis in this category.
Piste Performance - High stability and maximum control in the carve.
Rossignol Zenith Z5 Stability at speed, control in the carve - perfect piste ski. Sidecut: 126/74/105 An excellent advanced package, a little more tolerant of less technical skiers than the Z9 but sharing the same lively geometry, great grip and very 'sharp' as in early into the turn, if you've thought about it then the Z5 will be already swooping around both thought and turn. |
Dynastar Contact 10 Piste carver, smooth and stable, large tip for quick entry into the turn. Sidecut: 122/72/102 A fractionally softer flex allow less aggressive skiers an easier carve and less physical effort but these skis are not the most demanding even though they can be quite exhilarating when rushing down the reds. A good pair of skis for advanced recreational skiers who take to the slopes a couple of weeks per year. |
Dynastar Exclusive Carve Women specific piste carver, stable with quick edge change. Sidecut: 114/64/97 They are so smooth it feels like the piste-bashers have waxed the slopes, incredibly comfortable, grippy and reassuring on the firmest snow, ideal for good female technical skiers who like small to medium sized turns on groomed runs. This model is based on the excellent Contact, so you have an 12m radius that gives you great carve and confidence, plus it is lady's specific design with lighter construction and binding reposition suiting the more forward stance used by women on their skis. |
Gold - Suitable for advanced intermediate through to expert. Anyone who is confident on red runs and above will benefit from skis in this category.
Freestyle Twin Tips - quality skis for the park and backcountry.
Rossignol Scratch BC WRS The perfect marriage of a snowboard and a ski. Exceptional float in powder and explosive pep for jumps. Sidecut: 128/98/121 British Columbia or backcountry, either way it's best deep with these fat freestylers, the most crucial thing with this ski is the mounting point, it is mounted very centrally for pivoting and spinning. Fun, Fat and playful! |
Rossignol Scratch FS Strong and light, perfect for the pipes and snow parks. Sidecut: 116/84/109 Universally loved by Park-hounds everywhere, they are well balanced for spinning and leaders in the freestyle movement, can Candide be wrong when it comes to his skis? Probably not and the FS are the beasts to nail the Park and they are also not too bad (for a twin-tip) to ski around on all-day. |
Gold - Suitable for advanced intermediate through to expert. Anyone who is confident on red runs and above will benefit from skis in this category.
All Mountain - a balance between piste performance and increased surface area for more float off-piste - explore the whole mountain.
Rossignol B2 A great "All Mountain" ski. As good on hardpack as in powder. Sidecut: 116/78/105 A pure all-mountain ski in the traditional sense, great for advanced intermediates to expert skiers who may not have changed their technique to match new, extremely fat freeride ski design. The B2's are slimmer, softer and very adaptable in comparison and excellent performers in most conditions. Possessing an off-piste bias, they are not pure carving skis and as such are best in variable conditions as opposed to piste carvers such as the Rossignol Zeniths. Fun, easy to use and very reliable, the perfect partner? Hence the amount of guides and instructors who favour them. |
Rossignol B2W Same characteristics of the B2 but designed specifically for women. Sidecut: 116/78/105 B2's for women have been around for at least three seasons. Definitely worth checking out if you want a "go any-where ski" and you don't want to travel with a 'quiver' of skis just in case conditions change.' Perhaps the best all-mountain skis on the market. |
Dynastar Legend 4800 Great all rounder, agile and secure on piste, smooth and forgiving off-piste. Sidecut: 114/75/102 Great all-terrain intermediate skis that have been revamped for this year. If you want a ski that is adventurous yet forgiving, easy turning and grippy without biting then try these. Ideal for red run skiers venturing off-piste with a guide for the first time and wanting a ski that will carve, skid and do small snappy turns. Limited if speed is your thing and the forgiveness that is a bonus in tricky conditions may have you wishing for a few more BHP if you are a more aggressive skier. The 4800's have been around for a while now but they are still great all-rounder and a sure bet if you are looking for a ski that isn't going to date and you're not looking to ski anything too extreme either on or off piste. |
Gold - Suitable for advanced intermediate through to expert. Anyone who is confident on red runs and above will benefit from skis in this category.
Freeride - large surface area and structure designed for maximum float and comfort off-piste.
Rossignol B3 Big brother of the B2. Its larger surface area increases the off-piste performance although it can still hold its own on the piste. Sidecut: 120/83/110 The Bandit B3 is an all-mountain charger that feasts on everything from crud and chowder to fresh snow, and it skis hardpack with ferocious authority. If you ski everywhere, through any snow condition, and demand a solid performance, the B3's your ski. Rossignol's Shark Nose technology places an aluminum insert at the tip of the ski, which increases torsional rigidity-meaning the B3 feels more stable at higher speeds. The Shark Nose also lets the B3 cruise through poor snow conditions without deflection. You get a smooth ride, even when the snow's less than ideal. |
Dynastar Legend 8000 Slightly more surface area than the 4800 for more float off-piste. Sidecut: 116/79/102 Softer and grippier than the outgoing Intuitive 79 which it replaces, short turns are snappy and suit both modern and more traditional ski techniques. The wide tip floats through the crud, powder is a breeze and perhaps one of the best all-round skis available. Some were available at the end of the 2004 season and have been extremely well received, perfect for an advanced to expert skier looking for a one ski does it all package. |
Test - Suitable for expert skiers wanting to try out top slalom, giant slalom and exteme off-piste skis.
Dynastar Speed Course Giant Slalom Ski, fantastic grip and acceleration out of the turn. Sidecut: 112/67/98 Oversized head and sidecut for early turning and high speed carving thrills. Very well suited to an aggressive advanced or expert skier who is looking for the ultimate GS carving ski but without needing the finesse of an elite skier and perfect grooming to have a good time. GS boomers aimed at smiles on faces as opposed to crushing clocks. |
Dynastar Speed Omeglass Slalom ski with legendary grip and turning ability Sidecut: 116/63//103 The Mini Cooper's of the ski world. Slight revisions of these gate bashers for 2006 included a narrower waist and tail; so you still have that huge tip that dives and bites into the hardest snow but now with a slightly more nimble and quicker finish to the turn. An advanced to expert choice for when the snow is hard and you want to feel those legs burn. A great choice for those wanting quick-turning thrills and they remain a popular choice with instructors in France who want the thrills without the enormous physical demands of a full-on race ski. |
Rossignol Radical 9S TI Slalom ski with grip, balance and maximum rebound Sidecut: 118/66/104 Radical sidecuts for a all-mountain slalom skis that are happy to cruise the entire hill, perhaps take in some moguls, head out for lunch and be skied and enjoyed all-day long. As such they are not a pure slalom race ski but they are great fun, exciting to ski and certainly radical in terms of shape when compared to skis from a couple of years ago. |
Rossignol Radical 9X TI Giant Slalom ski, speed and power with total control. Sidecut: 116/68/102 Fast carving racers that can be used and abused the entire day and are vastly more entertaining than a pure race ski for holiday-makers. If you like to blast through the gates now and again or just desire a rapid pair of boards to cruise the groomers then the redesigned R9X is highly addictive. They are very good in the hands of experts or an advanced skier who wants to push their speed and technical boundaries. |
